A historic Investment Agreement for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project was signed at the Kyrgyz Presidential Administration. The agreement was formalized by Kyrgyz Minister of Transport and Communications Absattar Syrgabayev and Zhong Shengui, Chairman of the Board of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company.
This railway project holds strategic importance for the three nations, creating a direct transportation link between China, Central Asia, and Europe. Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev emphasized the significance of this milestone, highlighting the years of negotiation that led to this achievement.
“This project is a testament to the determination of our leaders and their commitment to regional cooperation. It marks a new phase in economic integration and infrastructure development,” Torobaev stated during the ceremony.
The event was attended by senior officials from China and Uzbekistan, including Chinese Charge d’Affaires Li Baozhe and Uzbek Ambassador Saidikram Iyaszhodjayev. Both sides stressed the railway’s importance in boosting trade, reducing transportation costs, and fostering regional connectivity.
Scheduled to begin construction on December 27, the railway will modernize transportation infrastructure across the three countries. Key developments include the construction of modern stations, logistic hubs, and trade routes that will enhance economic growth and regional ties.
The project is expected to provide substantial economic and social benefits, including job creation and strengthened trade networks. This railway will serve as a cornerstone for further integration and development in Central Asia.
