The informal Cyprus conference, held in Geneva under the auspices of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has concluded. The meeting, which started yesterday, aimed to facilitate discussions on determining a way forward for the Cyprus issue and brought together representatives from both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot sides, as well as guarantor states Turkey, Greece, and the United Kingdom.

The expanded-format meeting began at 13:30 (GMT+3) at the UN Geneva Office with the participation of all parties and concluded at 16:30.

Before the discussions, a “family photo” was taken, and the meeting commenced with an opening speech by Guterres, followed by statements from delegation heads.

Participants included President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, and UK Minister of State for Europe and North America Stephen Doughty, along with accompanying delegations.

The conference was preceded by a dinner hosted by Guterres for the delegations last night. This morning, Guterres also held separate meetings with the delegations.

Following the conference, TRNC President Ersin Tatar is expected to hold a press briefing regarding the discussions.
