President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan signed an amendment to the “Law on Museums and Museum Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic” on October 25, 2024. The newly enacted law, approved by the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) on September 25, 2024, seeks to promote Kyrgyz culture and preserve customs aligned with human rights principles.
The law defines “genealogy museums” as historical museums dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying, and promoting information on familial ties, clan histories, individual ancestries, and genealogical records. These museums will serve as a resource for those interested in tracing family roots, establishing kinship connections, and compiling genealogical trees.
