It has been four years since the brutal attack by Armenian forces on the village of Qarayusifli in Azerbaijan’s Barda district, during the Second Karabakh War which began on September 27, 2020. Throughout the conflict, Armenian military forces severely violated international law, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions, Additional Protocols, and UN Security Council resolutions, by targeting densely populated civilian areas.
On October 27, 2020, Armenian armed forces attacked Qarayusifli village using banned cluster munitions, resulting in the tragic deaths of five civilians, including women and children, and injuring 14 others. Victims of the attack included Ofeliya Cəfərova (born in 1970), Aybəniz Əhmədova (1959), Ehtiram İsmayılov (1980), Almaz Əliyeva (1960), and young Aysu İsgəndərova (2013).
The attacks on Barda, occurring on October 5, 8, 27, and 28, as well as November 7, resulted in the loss of 28 lives and left 108 civilians wounded. These attacks inflicted extensive damage on homes, civilian infrastructure, and transport vehicles, bringing significant harm to the local community.
