The inaugural meeting of ministers in charge of industry, science, technology, and innovation for the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place on October 26, 2024, in Istanbul. The session, hosted by Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology, brought together officials from OTS member and observer states. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General, highlighted the signing of the Declaration from this first gathering, along with the adoption of an Action Plan aimed at collaboration across various technological and industrial sectors.
The Action Plan focuses on areas including Quality Infrastructure, R&D, Green Transformation, Organized Industrial Zones, Technoparks, Digital Transformation, and Space Technologies, all aimed at enhancing economic independence, national security, and competitiveness among the member states. OTS members are optimistic about the positive impact this will have across Turkic countries. It was also announced that Azerbaijan will host the next meeting in 2025, continuing the momentum built in Istanbul.
