In Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu region, the historical drama series The Golden Empire is nearing the end of its production phase. The series, which centers on the birth of the Ulus of Jochi and the era of the Golden Horde, is currently filming its final and most meaningful scenes that explore not just political decisions but deeply personal ones.

One standout scene features the protagonist facing a moral crossroads — it’s not about action but about silent decisions, says director Emre Şahin. “Transporting the audience into a world they’ve never known is always a challenge,” he noted, emphasizing the precision and emotional restraint required.

On May 9, Kazakhstan’s State Advisor Yerlan Karin visited the filming location and discussed the vision for the final scenes with the production team. The series is being produced by international studio Karga Seven Pictures — known for works on Netflix — with support from the Presidential Initiatives Fund “Dara”.

The production team filmed across eight diverse and culturally rich locations, including the Kazakhfilm studios, the sacred site of Tamgaly Tas, and the atmospheric Nomad City set.
