Today, the ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center was officially opened in Baku during the COP29 conference. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, who emphasized the center’s potential to contribute significantly to regional energy security, combat climate change, and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Minister Shahbazov highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative in enhancing cooperation with Azerbaijan’s partners. He stated, “Our goal is to develop sustainable energy and renewable energy sources. This center will play a critical role in supporting our efforts in these areas.”

The minister also noted Azerbaijan’s active collaboration with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and other nations on projects related to creating “green corridors” for sustainable energy. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering low-carbon economic development and expressed confidence that the Clean Energy Center would bolster green energy initiatives and research in climate change.

The ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center aims to support renewable energy development, conduct research on climate change, and strengthen collaboration in sustainable energy solutions across the region. It is positioned as a key driver for promoting environmentally friendly energy policies and innovation.
