Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently met with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso in Astana, where they discussed plans for substantial investment and collaboration on Kazakhstan’s economic and environmental initiatives. Renaud-Basso, who attended the 36th plenary meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, outlined the EBRD’s commitment to investing 2 billion euros into Kazakhstan’s green transition program. The investment, spread over several years, aims to support sustainable growth, enhance the investment climate, and drive modernization in Kazakhstan.

During their meeting, Tokayev expressed appreciation for the EBRD’s strategic support, highlighting its contributions to advancing Kazakhstan’s economy. Both leaders discussed potential investment projects across multiple sectors, including small and medium-sized enterprises, finance, housing and utilities, energy, healthcare, agriculture, transportation infrastructure, and IT.

Renaud-Basso emphasized that the EBRD will invest 650 million dollars in 22 projects in Kazakhstan this year alone, reflecting the bank’s focused support for Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and energy development. She also praised the procurement practices of Samruk-Kazyna, underscoring the bank’s confidence in the fund’s transparent procedures.

In addition, Tokayev and Renaud-Basso exchanged insights on pressing issues related to global economic development, further underscoring the depth of Kazakhstan’s collaboration with the EBRD in fostering economic resilience.
