The “Denktaş in London” exhibition, dedicated to the life of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş, is set to open on November 16 at the Yunus Emre Institute in London. Organized by Mine Kar and Cem Kar, the exhibition will run daily from 10:00 to 16:00 until November 30. This collection, which has previously been displayed in various cities in Türkiye and TRNC, features 250 photographs selected from Denktaş’s extensive personal archive of over 50,000 images.
The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Denktaş’s personal life and Cypriot history, including previously unpublished photos, childhood memories, family moments, and scenes from his years of struggle, some captured by Denktaş himself. This unique presentation highlights the TRNC Founding President’s role in the independence movement, visually narrating the freedom and independence struggle of the Turkish Cypriots.
In addition to the physical exhibit, visitors can access a virtual version on denktassergi.com. The exhibition is supported by Pools Plus Cyprus, with logistical assistance from Turkish Airlines and coordination by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the Turkish Embassy in London, the TRNC London Representative Office, and the Yunus Emre Institute in London.
