The trial of Armenian nationals accused of committing war crimes during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories has commenced at the Baku Court Complex, presided over by Judge Zeynal Agayev of the Baku Military Court. According to the information reported by “Report,” the hearing marks a critical step in addressing allegations of torture and mistreatment of prisoners and hostages during the occupation of Kalbajar.
The accused are charged with crimes against humanity, war crimes, acts of genocide, and violations of international humanitarian law. They are alleged to have participated in aggressive warfare, mass deportation, persecution, torture, plunder, and other offenses under the direction of the Armenian state, its armed forces, and the unrecognized “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.”
A total of 15 individuals, including Arayik Vladimiri Harutyunyan, Arkadi Arshaviri Gukasyan, Bako Sahaki Sahakyan, and others, face charges under various articles of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code, including aggression, genocide, war crimes, terrorism, and crimes against humanity.
