In Baku, the COP29 Leaders’ Summit, part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), commenced with a formal welcoming ceremony at Baku Stadium. Heads of state and representatives arrived at the venue, where they were greeted by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The COP29 Leaders’ Summit will span two days, bringing together a diverse group of global leaders to address pressing climate issues. Among the participants are 50 presidents, 10 vice presidents, 20 prime ministers, and two crown princes, each expected to deliver official statements during the summit’s high-level segment.
This summit marks a pivotal gathering for advancing international collaboration on climate change, with world leaders presenting their commitments and strategies for a sustainable future.
