Azerbaijan’s COP29 zones, known as the blue and green zones, are fully equipped to meet the needs for eco-friendly and resilient energy, according to Ayan Najaf, a Coordination Council member of the COP29 Operational Company. Speaking at the signing ceremony of a memorandum with Green Energy Power Plant LLC in Baku, Najaf stated, “The primary focus of the COP area is on sustainable development concepts and long-term strategies. All elements must be validated and substantiated beforehand.”
Najaf added that Baku Olympic Stadium, the COP29 venue, is designed for long-term use and prioritizes eco-friendly energy solutions and hybrid supply models. “We are confident that we fully meet the criteria for sustainable energy consumption and can demonstrate various models of this approach successfully,” she said.
While the Blue Zone is reserved for UN-registered participants, the Green Zone is managed by the host nation. Azerbaijan will host COP29 in November, with Baku set to welcome around 70–80,000 international visitors.
