In Shusha’s central Karabakh Street, the construction of 10 buildings with diverse functions is progressing as part of a state-private partnership initiative.

According to Vugar Maharramov, Deputy Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve, the new structures will include hotels, office buildings, public catering venues, and administrative facilities for the Reserve.

He noted that the buildings are being constructed with high quality and in harmony with Shusha’s architectural character. The project is part of the broader efforts to revitalize this historic Azerbaijani city.

Older Soviet-era residential buildings were previously demolished in the area. The new constructions, designed with input from local and international architects, are being built using Shusha stone to match the city’s cultural heritage. Two of the buildings are commissioned by the Shusha State Reserve Administration.

Construction began two years ago and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Karabakh Street on 27 March 2025 to observe the progress of the ongoing development under the public-private partnership framework.
