On March 13, during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Kyrgyzstan, the leaders of both countries held talks. President Sadyr Japarov congratulated Rahmon on the successful completion of Tajikistan’s parliamentary elections and highlighted the well-organized election process.

Japarov emphasized that strengthening friendly and neighborly relations with Tajikistan is a key priority of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. He noted that the two nations share a common history, culture, and traditions, as well as similar positions on key regional and international issues.

A significant part of the discussion focused on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. Japarov stated that signing the border agreement would be a historic milestone, warmly welcomed by both nations and the international community.

He expressed confidence that this step would contribute not only to the security and stability of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan but also to the entire Central Asian region. Japarov stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in border areas, particularly through joint cultural events such as the upcoming Navruz celebrations on March 31 in Khujand.

In response, President Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and underscored the historic importance of the agreements being signed, which would open a new chapter in Tajik-Kyrgyz relations.
