President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev shared a statement on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s accession to the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. In his message, published on social media, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the leaders of Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Bangladesh for supporting Azerbaijan’s candidacy.

“Azerbaijan’s membership in D-8 is a testament to our sincere friendship and cooperation with these nations,” stated Aliyev. He emphasized that for the first time in its 30-year history, the organization, established under Turkey’s initiative, has decided to expand, marking a proud moment for Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev assured that Azerbaijan, alongside other member states, will strive to further strengthen the organization and foster Islamic solidarity. The decision was made during the D-8 Summit held in Cairo, reflecting Azerbaijan’s strategic commitment to international cooperation and economic development.

Azerbaijan’s accession to the D-8 opens new opportunities for strengthening economic ties among member states and underscores the nation’s dedication to fostering global partnerships.
