On December 30, Azerbaijan dispatched a 200-ton humanitarian aid convoy from Baku to Syria, following President Ilham Aliyev’s directive. The convoy, carrying food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items, will travel through Georgia and Turkey to reach the Çobanbey border crossing on the Turkey-Syria border.

The aid is destined for distribution in the Idlib region, where millions are grappling with the aftermath of prolonged conflict. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) will organize the distribution, ensuring that the aid reaches those most in need. Local and international relief organizations will also assist in the delivery and distribution process.

Syria continues to endure one of the most severe humanitarian crises of our time, with millions lacking access to basic necessities. Azerbaijan’s aid initiative, in collaboration with Turkey, represents a vital contribution to alleviating suffering and fostering regional cooperation. This joint effort between Azerbaijan and Turkey further strengthens their historic bonds of brotherhood and mutual support.
