On December 13, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, met with a NATO delegation led by Lieutenant General Max A.L.T. Nielsen, Commandant of the NATO Defense College, according to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
During the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev highlighted successful reforms in the Azerbaijan Army, the Army’s victory in the Second Karabakh War, and the integration of combat experience into troop training.
He praised Azerbaijan’s cooperation with NATO under various programs and emphasized the importance of expanding these relations further.
Lieutenant General Nielsen expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and conveyed his satisfaction with the visit. He commended Azerbaijan Army personnel for their contributions to NATO peacekeeping missions and other collaborative events.
The meeting also covered the prospects of cooperation with NATO in military education and other mutually beneficial areas.
