The AZIREX-2024 tactical exercise, featuring personnel and ships from the Naval Forces of both the Azerbaijan Army and the Iranian Army, will be held as part of a military cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This exercise falls under the broader framework of military and technical cooperation agreements established between the two neighboring countries.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, on November 2, personnel and warships from the Azerbaijani Navy arrived at Iran’s Anzali port to prepare for the exercise. The “Search and Rescue at Sea” operation, a core focus of the exercise, will take place in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan’s contribution includes two ships and over 100 personnel.
The joint exercise, conducted under the motto “Cooperation for Peace and Friendship!” highlights the strategic collaboration between Azerbaijan and Iran in the Caspian region, reflecting both nations’ commitment to mutual support in regional maritime operations.
