Photos and preliminary investigations into the Azerbaijan Airlines crash indicate that the Embraer 190 aircraft was struck by a missile from a Russian Pantsir-S air defense system, according to Azerbaijani government sources. The incident occurred as the plane approached Grozny during its flight from Baku to Aktau.
Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev earlier confirmed that a rocket attack was involved, though the exact missile type remains under investigation. President Ilham Aliyev stated that the attack was unintentional but demanded a full admission of responsibility from Russia, punishment for those involved, and compensation for the victims and their families.
The investigation is ongoing, with Azerbaijani officials urging transparency and international cooperation to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
