President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye. The leaders held a 40-minute discussion aimed at strengthening relations between the TRNC and Azerbaijan.
President Tatar highlighted that this was a continuation of their previous official meeting in Azerbaijan. He expressed gratitude to President Aliyev for his public support of the Turkish Cypriot cause during the “Towards a New World Order” forum in Baku, where Aliyev emphasized the importance of recognizing the TRNC and respecting its struggle.
During their conversation, President Aliyev reiterated his commitment to the Organization of Turkic States and emphasized the importance of developing ties with the TRNC. He pointed out that despite new geopolitical dynamics in Europe, such as EU alignment with certain countries, this would not hinder cooperation within the Turkic world.
The discussion also covered increasing student and tourist exchanges and encouraging visits between youth and investors from both sides to deepen bilateral ties.
