On November 28, the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan in Astana hosted an event titled “From the Ideal of Alash to Turkic Unity”. The gathering was dedicated to the legacy of Akhmet Baitursynuly and Magzhan Zhumabay, two prominent figures of the Alash Orda movement.

During the event, academic collections of their works were presented. These collections, compiled by the Mukhtar Auezov Institute of Literature and Art with support from the Turkic Academy, reflect the intellectual and cultural contributions of these iconic figures to the Turkic world.

Key speakers included Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, Elmira Omarova, Deputy General Director of the Mukhtar Auezov Institute, and Darhan Kydyrali, Senator of Kazakhstan’s Parliament. Among the audience were scholars, diplomats, public figures, and parliamentarians.

Shahin Mustafayev emphasized Akhmet Baitursynuly’s role in founding Kazakh linguistics and reforming the Turkic alphabet. He also highlighted Magzhan Zhumabay’s contribution to inspiring unity within the Turkic world, pointing to his poem “To the Distant Brother” as a symbol of solidarity.

The event concluded with a discussion on the significance of Turkic unity and cultural preservation. Attendees recognized the efforts of the Turkic Academy in promoting shared values and commemorating the intellectual legacy of Turkic figures.
