President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a significant meeting in Tashkent with the heads of parliamentary delegations from Central Asian countries who arrived to attend the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The talks focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthening regional collaboration, and expanding mutual strategic initiatives.
The delegation included Yerlan Koshanov (Kazakhstan), Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu (Kyrgyzstan), Fayzali Idizoda (Tajikistan), and Dunyagozel Gulmanova (Turkmenistan). The parliamentary leaders conveyed warm greetings from their national leaders and emphasized the importance of this historic international event, held in the region for the first time.
Discussions touched upon recent progress in regional integration, including increased trade volumes, establishment of border trade zones, and active cooperation in cultural and educational fields. Particular praise was given to the recent Samarkand summit between Central Asia and the EU and the Climate Forum held on April 4.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the value of strengthening parliamentary relations, especially at the committee level, to advance regional unity and ensure the success of joint initiatives. The recent border delimitation agreement signed in Khujand among Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan was noted as a milestone achievement in regional diplomacy.
